From Waikiki, take the H-1 Freeway West. When you get to the split (H-1 West, Hickam AFB, Pearl Harbor), stay right. You can also take the Moanalua Freeway (78) west. It will run into H-1 further at a junction. Stay right and you will be on the Airport Ramp to Waianae. Stay in the lane right to the carpool or fast lane and it will lead you to the city of Makakilo.

At this point the H1 freeway will turn into Farrington Hwy going West to Waianae. You will past several towns along the way (Nanakuli,Maili,and then Waianae. You will not make any turns but go straight. You will also past a landmark (Lualualei Naval Magazine on you right). This is you first sign that you are heading and going in the right direction.

The next landmark will be Waianae Town itself. You will past the shopping center with BurgerKing on your right and will follow this road till you see the McDonald's on you right. By the way, the ocean will always be on your left if you are going West. You will see a 7-11 on the right, make a right turn onto "Makaha Valley Rd". If you miss the turn you will end up at Yokohama beach.
